Making with clay is an absorbing outlet for creative expression, and as well as being gratifying, it can be a therapeutic experience!

As with Yoga and Meditation, pottery has come to be viewed as a wellness activity. The mindful act of creating with clay has been shown to have health benefits such as relieving symptoms of depression. We also happen to think it's great fun!

So....whether you have caught the Pottery Bug, or just fancy trying something new, why not sign up for one of our classes?

Introduction to Pottery:

Our Introduction to Pottery class on Thursdays and Saturdays is a fun and informative introduction to several methods of making ceramic forms. This class will offer the opportunity to have a go on the potter's wheel as well as learning some hand-building techniques,. Suitable for those who have never tried their hand at pottery before as well as those with some experience wanting to improve. The class will last 2 hours, 15 minutes and includes a break for refreshments. The price includes the firing of 2 pieces, usually one thrown pot and one hand-built pot. For any extra pots you would like us to fire we make a small charge of £5 per pot.

The price for this class is £65

Tuesday Evening Class:

Our 6pm Tuesday evening class is similar to the introduction class but with more flexibility of structure and the chance to improve and progress. We hope to see students return and continue to further their skills and go on to working on more challenging projects.

We offer a special deal of 3 sessions for the price of 2. These need not be taken consecutively.

Our 4 week courses are suitable for beginners and intermediate level. They are structured and we will set making projects as well as introducing you to various ceramic techniques week by week.

You will learn to throw on the potter's wheel, gain confidence and fluidity so that by the end of the four weeks you should produce a body of work to be proud of!

We will introduce you to the pleasures of working with clay on the wheel and also hand building with clay, and by experiencing these different ways of working you should discover your natural path.

Clay Club:

Join our Clay Club and with your monthly membership you will receive up to 3 sessions in the studio and 20% discount on any further classes booked in the month. The sessions which are 2 hours long are held on Wednesdays at 10 am, Fridays at 10 am and Saturdays at 2pm. These sessions will be less structured than our Introduction class format, and although a tutor will always be on hand to advise and assist when required, there will be less tuition and you will be encouraged to work on your own projects and to hone the skills you have learnt. Once you have purchased a membership, please email us with your preferred dates for that month.

Firing of Your Pots: Your pieces will require two firings- firstly a biscuit firing in our small electric kiln. Then we will glaze your work and it will go for a final firing in the large gas kiln. For best results we need a full load for the gas kiln so we fire it just once a month. We hope you feel your pieces of pottery will be worth waiting for and thank you for your patience and understanding.
